As we all practice physical distancing to do our part in stopping COVID-19 we are working hard at the Brant County SPCA to continue to do our part for our community. Although our regularly scheduled food pantries through out the city have been cancelled to help combat the virus we are still doing our best to provide for those in need.
We continue to supply the Brantford Food Bank with pet food for distribution and have also supported the Six Nations Food Bank and Animal Control by providing them with necessary dog and cat food. We understand that many people in need might not have access to these outlets and encourage anyone who requires emergency pet food to please call the shelter at 519-756-6620.
Please note that if you would like to use our emergency food services, we must collect the following information:
- Name, address, and telephone number
- What type of animals you have
- How many animals you have
This is a once per month service. We utilize the gathered information to give the appropriate amount of food to supply to your animal(s). Food pick up times will be scheduled with the shelter. Food will be placed outside the front of the shelter with the recipient’s name labelled on it.
We understand that not all people have means of transportation. If you are absolutely unable to pick up your items an Animal Services Team Member will drop them off to the provided address and call the recipient to notify them of drop off. This is done to help limit the person to person contact. Please note that this is a very busy time for our Animal Services Team and drop offs will be organized according to their schedule.
Just as we have seen a wonderful amount of community support during these uncertain times, we wanted to take the time to remind you that you are not alone and have our support as well.
