Your support makes it possible to take care of animals that need emergency medical care – and we are so grateful.
Recently, the Brant County SPCA took in a cat not knowing what the outcome was going to be. Cricket was brought to us after falling out of a 4th floor window; he had severely injured his back legs and was in a lot of pain. After this tragic accident, the owners simply weren’t able to provide the level of care Cricket needed due to the severity of the injuries.
Our animal care staff rushed Cricket to a local vet for x-rays which determined his two back legs were fractured. One of the fractures required pins, which takes several weeks to heal.
After a successful surgery, Cricket is doing great! Our shelter Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Jess fostered Cricket because he needed his bandages changed every three days. He was on medication to keep him more comfortable, reduce movement and keep his legs as stable as possible
“I can tell that in his heart, Cricket’s motor runs 100 miles an hour and will be a ball of energy once he is all healed. He is quite the snuggle bug who loves to curl up in your lap and purr.” – Jess, RVT, Brant County SPCA
After much needed medical care, provided through our Project Patchwork program, Cricket is ready to be adopted into his furever home! Because of donors like you and ongoing support from local vets, Project Patchwork provides emergency, life- saving surgery for animals that come to the shelter with life threatening injuries or illness to get them healthy before adoption.
“Cricket is a sweet boy with a mischievous spirit. Despite his injuries and the fact that he is still rebuilding his strength, he is a whirlwind of energy and love” – Jess, Foster
We are grateful for all our foster families that care for animals in their homes while we provide all the necessary medical care to ensure each pet is healthy and happy!
