Why getting your pet Spay/Neutered is so important
It has been shown that regardless of gender, spaying or neutering your pets come with several medical benefits. This procedure reduces your animal’s chance of falling victim to diseases, including uterine infections and certain cancers. By getting your pet spayed or neutered you protect them from these ailments and contribute to a longer and healthier life.
This procedure can also come with behavioural benefits. Un-neutered males can exhibit dominant and sometimes aggressive behaviour while females in heat can act erratically. Neutered males are also less likely to spray in the house and are not tempted to roam or escape your home to find a partner.
We understand that getting your pet spayed or neutered can come with lengthy wait times or expensive vet bills. While the Brant County SPCA is not currently offering any low-cost spay/neuter programs, we have attached some resources below for you to explore your spay/neuter options.
