Vinny’s Journey

Have you ever felt a little lost? Unsure of what your next steps in life are?

For me, this feeling came a little later in life. It wasn’t until my health started to decline that I found myself lost, but with a little hope and some help from my friends, I was found.

It’s a funny thing; getting older. When I was younger, I could run for hours, only stopping to get a quick drink before I was off again…now I still run – but it seems as though each day brings a new ache or pain.

Maybe it was because I was getting older? Or that I started to have health issues…I guess I might never know why I ended up at the Brant County SPCA.

Luckily, it turns out my walk through the doors of the Brant County SPCA were the first steps towards my new life.

The people at the shelter were kind and gentle and called me Vinny. They took me for walks, they laughed at my bursts of energy,

and didn’t mind a gentle nibble or two when I got excited for treats. As much as I loved the friends I made at the SPCA, I missed the comforts of home, like curling up in my favourite spot with my favourite toy.

All that changed when I heard the best word ever: Fospice. Little did I know, this word meant I was going to have a home, a Fospice home, with people who I could call my own…and you made it all possible.

When animals like me (who have serious health issues) find our way to the Brant County SPCA, they don’t give up on us. We might not be able to be adopted, but instead we get incredible Fospice homes to spend our retirement in!

Your donations help cover my heartworm and arthritis medication so that my new family can focus on what’s important; making every moment with me count (and boy do they)!

My Fospice mom, Carissa, couldn’t wait to add me to her pack! “Honestly, I love senior dogs and I have always been interested in fostering/adopting seniors. Vinny gave me the perfect opportunity to give a loving old man a home!” And that’s exactly what she did.

As we approach the Holiday Season would you consider giving a gift to change an animal’s life? With a goal of $40,000 the Brant County SPCA can continue to provide the vital care that animals need.

Your gift can help give an old dog like me a new home for the holidays, or help provide critical dental work for a cat so they can enjoy their holiday dinner.

According to my new mom, Carissa, “a Fospice family is one that has unconditional love, patience and understanding for your new family member. We have a duty as animal lovers to make sure our more vulnerable members have a warm and loving home for the remainder of their days.”

As an animal lover, will you fulfill your duty and show the same love and understanding to the animals in our community? When you give today, you’re making a difference to so many animals, you’re showing them how much you care.

You’re providing them with food, shelter, medicine and much, much more…

Happy Holidays! May you receive all the chew toys & snuggles you desire!
